Ooops!

So, we are sitting in the mall Monday getting ready to eat a cookie when Isabel says I think I might be ready to get my ears pierced one of these days!
I sit there dumbfounded, remembering the last time we talked about it and she held her ears and squealed NOOOOOO as if it hurt to even think about it? I figured it would be forever before she even cared.
So, I began to pump her with questions to find out her level of interest. That is when I realized we were sitting right next to Claire's. A hah! She finally said "well since we are here can we just do it today?" I am thinking,"wow, where did this come from, and if I don't do it now will she ever want to again?" So, we did it! She cried with the first ear and tensed up with fear for the second. Then they put something on her ears and it stopped hurting as much. I let her pick a new little horse to hold, and by the time we left the store her ears weren't hurting as much at all. She was so excited but she still didn't want to call and tell Daddy, she wanted to surprise him.
Well, turns out I FORGOT that we had agreed not to let them get their ears pierced until they turned 8. You should have seen the look on Matt's face when he came in the door! It was a combination between a smirk, a scowl and a how could you. I was genuinely shocked!
Now, if it had been Matt who forgot something important that we had agreed on, HOLY COW, it would have been much more than a smirk and a scowl! It would not have been a happy moment for anyone! So, lesson learned... when I think "maybe we should call Daddy", I should do it, and maybe next time he forgets something "important" I need to learn to be more understanding and gentle.
Just wondering though, does this make us even for the time he just went out and bought a new car with out talking to me?

  1. So a little mixed feeling there. They look cute. Is Matt alright with it now?
I showed Alyssa and she said "She got ear pokes!? Like you have? But, I don't want to do that because I am not big like you and Izzy."
Remember we had to be 12 when we could get ours done?
She always amazes me how she talks so grown up like. You can really talk to her about almost anything and she will share her feelings. I need you to train me and my kids on that.
