Going to Kansas City... the rest of the story... very short.....

click to enlarge - you'll want to see it close up

We saw as many friends as we could squeeze in - wishing with every parting that we could stay together longer!

Andi, Roy and Tanda, Nadine and Emma and sweet Ava, Heidi, Kacee and Parker, Nikki, Jacob, baby sis, Brigitte Brendan and Bradley, Doug and Deena and girls, & all of our Hickory Hills Ward family & even some of our friends from OP1 that are now in Hickory Hills.

I sat in the back row in Sunday School with Brigitte and made lots of sarcastic comments to keep Brigitte laughing while thoroughly LOVING Deena's lesson.

The coolest thing is how completely not weird it was. To listen to Bishop teaching was like we had been there doing the same thing last Sunday and the one before...

And of course it had to be testimony meeting... I had major eye leakage from the testimony born by the Bishopric member who is required to start it all.....

And then, my dear dear friend Tami - gets up and talks about VT and I am officially crying. She was my Visiting Teacher when we first moved back to Kansas City. She wrote me the sweetest letters often. She got to know me and would invite me back to church often. I finally decided that she was never going to leave me alone so I better just go back to church... and the rest is history.

Sweet little sassy thing...

Our spray park outing was wonderful! - while it lasted! When the lovely lady boasting a shiner on her left eye - and her big ol' beautiful beau started fighting AND THEN a scrawny half naked man emerged from the woods and stumbled his way down the hill and into the water, and eventually back up the hill to where he fell on his head! - then, we decided that our KCK experience was complete. We grabbed the kids, called 911 and bolted. Phew!

Emma, Kacee, Izzy, Ava, Alex
Dinner time was definitely a lot of work and not very quiet -
but yes we can blame that on the grown ups!
Double Date with Roy and Tanda to Legends - with a fun, yummy, but truly overpriced meal at Ted Montana's, a bit o' shopping, and several rousing games of pool at Dave & Busters, us girls missed our chance at Video Games while we were shopping but hey it won't be long until cords season is upon us so I had to pay our respects to Osh Kosh while we could. ( I know I know they are not the purveyors of fine children's clothing that you expect from me - but hey, they are cute, affordable, fit my girls skinny little waists AND there is not one near us so you won't see my girls on the bus next to someone wearing the same outfit. Ok a little silly, I know.)Finally got around to developing the 2nd installment in my new line of girls potty training emergency fashions.
Old friends
Kacee and Isabel
Andi (Andrea) from High School/ College and her beau Dan.Finally on the way out of town we stopped at the Visitor Center in Independence. The girls haven't been there for a couple of years and didn't remember any of it.
Just before we arrived we saw a kitten, panicking at the sound of sirens, run pell mell across the street, only to turn right back around and run right under the wheel of the firetruck - we were of course the first in line at the light and watched in horror.
It felt good to me to be there at the Visitors Center and talk about the plan of Salvation and look at the Christus. I thought it would be helpful to the girls too - but when they were talking to the Sister Missionaries they told her what happened and then while jumping up and down they said very excitedly...."and Mamma cat is dead too!" I guess we deal with the circle of life around here enough that they have a basic understanding and testimony of Jesus Christ and the love he has for his children and his creations - and it is not a big deal to them.

Ok - so to top off a pretty darn good trip - we discovered how to make our own snow!
Even in summer! Here's how.
1. Unwittingly leave freezer door cracked open
2. Go on vacation for 4 days
3. Voila! Instant Snow!

Going to Kansas City, Kansas City here we come ...

gonna play with all our friends
chase some trains from Merriam to Olathe
play at the park - oh man which one? Antioch? Chatlain?
Eat some yummy food
go to church
will we even make it to Deanna Rose? Who knows!
and probably cry, again, when it's time to go.

Going to Kansas City, Kansas City here we come ...
They got a crazy way of loving there
And I'm gonna get me some.

  2. Oh Ems! There is nothing more sad than to chase trains up I-35 to Lamar and look up the hill longingly for you and Nate... Or to pass the Gazebo where Nate and Isabel were wed...Don't you worry - I am still scheming up ways to rendez-vous with you in Dallas - just need to secure the funding and pin down my and my sisters childcare plans, and my daycare kids plans, and, and, and, and..... GEEZ! Regardless - we will be roadtripping. I have had my fill of St Louis Fashionistas, and now my fill of my super mom, uplifting, steady and oh so sweet Kansas City gals - now all I need is a little Sassy mamma time with Em's and Nate and ohhh baby Aidan. Okay I AM SlEEEpY! Rambling like a fool!

  3. Sounds like a plan!
PS I was disappointed on that first picture that MATT wasn't decked out in makeup. I was hoping to see that the girls had got a hold of him.
ALSO--I didn't know that story about you and Tami. She is such a sweetheart, and what a great VT! Such a great example!
