Just Terrible

Lately Isabel has been convinced that if one thing goes wrong life is "terrible" or her day is ruined.
Things like they didn't show very many birds at the bird show, or it got to be late too fast, or she didn't get a new toy this week, or the famous "but all my friends get to....".

I've been trying to find ways to teach her about happiness and her ability to choose it but nothing ever seems to sink in.

Well today after another series of mishaps - I am pondering this concept.  Generally, most things that happen TO ME are funny to me, they throw my day out of whack but don't make me want to throw in the towel.  I just keep chugging along.  Sure I will whine and complain a little - or write a blog - but it helps to get it out.  So, maybe since I feel this way, I will be able to teach her just by being myself and she will learn to be at peace with life.

So .... the good stuff.

Yesterday I tried to bake a cake --- for some of you that statement is enough to make you fall down laughing.
So I preheated the oven like a good girl, mixed the batter, poured it in, and put the cake in.  I was thinking to myself that the pan looked a little full but who am I to question it!  I looked at the box for the time and wondered why they showed 2 cake pans.   15 minutes later it was smelling heavenly so I peeked - only to find a jiggly overflowing muffin top!  little drops of rainbow chip batter plopped from the edges of the pan and were forming clusters everywhere - it looked like rainbow funnel cake!!!!!  I wish i took a picture!

Today - this one isn't really my fault - my hairdryer blew up in my hand.  1st sparks from the outlet then a flash ball from the handle, which I was thankfully dropping.  2nd degree burns in 3 places on 2 fingers - and its my left hand (im a righty) so could've been worse.  But I do have some melted skin and a nice pattern of black plastic that fused with my hand. Thankfully, at 33 weeks I can take tylenol with codeine and Matt was able to come home and a friend took Alex.  And, my friend made my birthday cakes for me - and everything else I got done yesterday!!!!!  I swear, I wasn't standing in water, trying to unscrew it while it was turned on, or using it to do anything wierd!

So, now, I am going to sleep.  I hope that sleep is uneventful.

  2. You have always had an eventful life. I have always thought that. Whether it be good or bad.
I'm sorry about your hand. It's good to hear the actual story. I heard the facts and that was enough. I just thought it was the whole hand. So, that is a good thing that it was not.
Did you do Alex's birthday party?
