The stockings are hung
The tree is adorned
The not so wee little babe is crying, forlorn
Nestled snug in mama’s arms
He can’t seem to sleep, Not a wink not a peep
His eyes just won’t close
It must be the jeans mama musses, As the baby still fusses
No one could sleep in those things
Then amidst all the clatter, As if it didn’t matter
Climbs the fluffy orange tabby
To sit on top of it all!
A tickle of whiskers and the baby sneezes
A furry kiss and mama wheezes
As her eyes droop heavy and tired
and she dreams of the strength
To go to great lengths
Over homemade fudge
Or simmering cinnamon and cloves
Outside the wind howls
Inside children play
The radio sings J-I-N-G-L-E all the way
And now surrounded by pillows
Buried 4 fuzzy blankets deep
The wee little baby snores in his sleep
And mama has to pee
But
NOEL
Christ the King is born
The most wonderful time of year
Be of good cheer
And mama falls fast asleep anyway.
