ID Help Needed
This picture was taken tonight 11/26/11
in Mesa, Arizona
with my Mom's cell phone.
The bird was caught by a cat.
Shows no apparent injuries.
We are thinking it is some type of nightjar
like a Common Night Hawk or a Poorwill.
Looking up other possibilities and considering range and migration.
It is still pretty warm there compared to Missouri.
She says the feathers are very small, and it seems to her like a young bird.
I originally told her to keep it in a dark quiet box and give it a chance to fly off in morning,
but if it is nocturnal that may not be best?
