Traditions
It seemed like it took forever to get settled into
our Christmas traditions
today we run the risk of having too many.
The Key to traditions is being prepared.
Some of the things we do - need to be done much in advance of Dec 1st
- because they are time consuming.
I refuse to ruin a day or a season
being over worked and over stressed.
If there's not time
we skip it, change it, or do it next year.
We don't do all of our traditions every year.
Traditions are about memories, closeness, family team building.
NOT perfection.
So here is a favorite:
A BOOK A DAY
(above)
Every year I look for a new book or two about Christmas
We've finally exceeded 25!
Matt and I will take a couple nights and wrap all the books.
Each night before bed the kids take
turns unwrapping a book.
Then we read it for a bed time story.
This covers SO many things!
1-Teaching about Jesus and Christmas
2- Reading something for their daily reading homework
3-no fighting over the book
4-giving babies lots of practice at unwrapping
This is a picture of Max inspecting the items under the Christmas Tree.
Since our tree is on a table this year, I surrounded it with Framed Christmas Pictures and empty containers
that we will eventually fill with treats. He likes that there is SOMETHING he is allowed to touch!
I will continue to share our other Traditions on upcoming posts.
Do you have a favorite tradition? Share it here.
