The New Temple

Our Easter Weekend Trip
Focused on
our opportunity to visit the
Brand New Temple in
Kansas City

It is a beautiful building, on a large area of beautiful land.
Missouri is beautiful, but just a few moments in the Kansas City area
we remember why we prefer it.  The rolling hills and dense patches of
are serene and picturesque.

Just past World of Fun - the Temple spires appear over the tree line.
High on a hill - a beacon.
I would like to have seen that view -
approaching the temple from the highway -
at night.

This picture below is a perfect depiction of what family life is REALLY
like for us right now.   I had brought this box to set the camera on for
family photos.  Max found a better use for it.

If you have ever been inside one of our church buildings
you will remember the plain and simpleness.  Very little decor, a few paintings,
simple woodwork, simple furniture, little color.

Our services are also simple.
Besides the Sacrament - w e don't do much that is ceremonial.
We speak, teach, sing and pray.

The Temple is very different.

Inside the temple you will see
exquisite decor:  Crown molding, Stained Glass Windows,
Intricately carved staircases, fine wall coverings, rare tile,
gold and fine crystal chandeliers, furniture of the finest fabrics and gold trims,
impressive floral displays and more.  All made from the finest quality materials,
 with the finest quality workmanship.

It was fun to see the girls in awe of it all.
In one room where the huge bright chandeliers
called you in   -  it wasn't the crystal that they noticed
it was the plush white carpeting and they
asked if they could touch it.

I love this one.
My sweet girl.

This is the view on 435 just past Worlds of Fun.

This is Spencer.
There was a picture of the girls with their friend Abby....
Hmm, wonder where it went.

We were not permitted to take photos during the tour.
But there are nice pictures on line - even one room
- the Brides Room -
that we didn't go through.

Here's where to go if you want to see more:

  2. I wish I was there to go see it. It's good you had on your dress clothes. It made the pictures beautiful. (more than they would have) I'm so glad the girls could go see inside. I want to be able to do that with mine someday. Hopefully this August!
