We really need paint! Wish we would have painted first - but I think we will have better luck with color after having our furniture selected.
The piano room also needs a real rug, I want to get this same rug that is shown, but in chocolate brown. I want to paint the walls a mushroomy taupe color - but metallic. I saw metallic paint at LOWES in just the right color and I was very excited. I want a rich shimmery color that is subtle and warming.
I am bummed about the chairs. They are so comfy, and cute, but they don't look like I thought they would -- and they really need the sofa that was sold with them, I was just hoping they'd go well with the sofa we already had. They had these awesome chairs in the store that I would have opted for instead but the floor models were already sold and thats all that was left. They were an aqua fabric with brown retro embroidered flower like circles. They had dark wood arms, legs and trim.
Oh well, I will keep working at it.
So last night while putting together and arranging our new furniture - I heard it again - the soft thump of something landing on metal. ONLY this time Matt was here too and I wasn't half asleep. Only a second later our chimney top guest began to hoot... hoo, hoo, hoo - hoo, hoo - hoo - hoo. Can't really remember how to write that out phonetically - I guess my Structure of the English language knowledge is waning considerably. We didn't get to see him right away, he flew off and I had to chase him down the street. I was able to much more clearly hear him calling to his mate this time. Interesting to hear each bird say the same thing in their own very distinctive voice. The only thing better than listening to them calling back and forth across the roof tops is the sound of the ocean waves lapping at the shore. Listening to either of those 2 sounds out my window at night would lull me to sleep like a very happy baby.
Today after cleaning the church and watching the 1st session of conference, Alex went down for a Nap and Isabel went out to play with the kids in the cul-de-sac. She has been playing since 11am - thats 6 1/2 hours! Alex joined them when she woke up also. SO - we have baisically had this entire beautiful warm day with the house all open - to ourselves. It is sorta wierding me out. I don't remember how to function with long periods of work time. I have several projects that I wanted to start but didn't because I was sure it would all come to an end any minute. Why do I do that? I like to think I am a very flexible person but I actually don't adapt well to change that is in my favor.
So I didn't get my flowers planted. No biggie. So I haven't finished the invites for Izzys birthday - sounds like a perfect thing to do while watching conference.
So now I just need to get everything "just right" and I will post pictures of our somewhat normalized house with furniture in all the right places. I may even have to put the kitchen table and chairs back in the kitchen. Oh well. Can't have it all right!
Love the furniture. very nice. which ones do you enjoy sitting on the most? so, the piano room needs help. maybe it it different in person. I am thinking the two chairs don't work good in front of the two windows. maybe if it was one window. so my ideas are....
ReplyDelete1. Move the piano in between the windows and move the chairs on either side of the couch. 2. put couch where piano is. move piano between windows and put chairs at an angle from the hall towards the oposite corner of the room.(does that make sense?) I think that is all I have for now. good luck.
