Kindergarten here we come

The yes I am one of THOSE mom's paint shirt (cut up the front with velcro closures so she doesn't have to mess up her hair to put on her paint shirt)

Getting on the school bus for our practice ride home! The trauma of my day! I am not one of those clingy Mom's who have to walk their kid to the classroom , or give a million and one hugs, or not let them ride the school bus because I just had to be there and see it. I am nostalgic, and it is amazing to me to do our first Kindergarten experience - but, I expect Isabel to work at the responsibilities appropriate for her age, AND, I KNOW that she will excel. She has always excelled in all that she does, and I know she will here too! I just wish I could be a fly on the wall and watch her in her element. The hard thing today though was the bus... we have known that we are the last house with in the "MILE" from the school and that it has always been a controversy about whether this house gets to ride the bus. Even though there is a bus stop on the corner of our front yard, and another one two houses down on the other side of our house. So, they weren't going to let Isabel on the bus until we had filled out paperwork and waited..... Then someone did something and worked it all out and the last second they got her on the bus and she was home before we even got in the car! Good thing Heather was there!

Man - She has been waiting for this day for half her life (2 1/2 years!) since she started preschool back in Kansas City! That first day when she put on her little back pack, she was dressed up all cute and sassy, and she says "ok Mom, I'm ready for the bus!" No fear just pure unbridled excitement. I couldn't even handle talking to the school people about the bus - the tears were just sitting there ready to attack. Man. Thank goodness!
