On a girls night out to the dollar store - I grabbed my cash but not my wallet - not realizing my blunder until we made it to the store.
As we piled out of the car I warned the girls jokingly that they had better behave while driving because I could get in trouble for not having my drivers license.
Later as we piled back in to the car the ominous sound of sirens came screeching by through a nearby intersection.
Isabel sank into her seat despairingly and said
"Oh no! We're Arrested!"
Doing Battle with the Lamp
Our bedtime compromise with Isabel has been that she goes to bed at the same time as Alex but she gets 30 minutes to color, write books, love notes to Mom or what ever else she desires in her room, quietly. She loves the freedom and the responsibility and for the most part does very well at turning her light off and going to sleep when she is ready.
Well last night it didn't turn out so well.
Poor girl reached in to turn off her lamp with out looking and she seared the palm of her hand on the light bulb. While screaming she tried to get her hand under cold water but couldn't bear it. In just the few seconds it took for us to get to her she became hysterical.
A blessing, gauze and Aloe and just a couple minutes later had us on the way to the ER - as it was 9:07 and Urgent Care had just closed.
By the time we reached the hospital she was much more calm and was asking all kinds of typical Isabel questions.
She was so calm and brave while they cleaned, examined and dressed her 2nd Degree Burn. She was even happy and polite as they wrapped it in PINK gauze telling them how much her little sister loves pink.
On the way home I told her we could stop at the gas station for a treat since she was so brave - and she said ...
"I would normally get Bug Juice but since I just went to the Hospital I should try to stay healthy so maybe I should just get a Banana and some water! "
Back in the car she finally confessed that if we would run out of gauze and need to buy more she was hoping to find some in Green! Of Course!
Needless to say she has now sworn off lamps. We had to unplug it and remove it from her room.
