Some people never learn

Since I have begun feeding birds several years ago – we have had the pleasure on many occasions to be visited by a Sharp Shinned Hawk in the winter or a Coopers Hawk in the summer – both of which eat smaller birds and thus find a veritable buffet at bird feeders.

I long wondered if I could handle seeing the magnificent bird take its meal – along with a small hope that one day I would get the chance.

Well today it finally came.

He swooped through the mass of birds as he always has – but this time he came in from a different direction and caught a Starling who was breakfasting on the ground.

He took his prey under the trampoline and proceeded with his work while Matt stole quietly onto the deck and took a handful of pictures.

The rest of us stood on the counter in the kitchen trying to get a good look at the action.

Well, you can probably guess what happened next…. If I was a child I would be grounded, lose my TV privileges, beat with the wooden spoon etc.

Because when Matt went to look at the pictures – YOU GUESSED IT – no memory card!

I so wish that I had some amazing gruesome pictures to share with you.

Alas, my brain cells are depleting rapidly, I already can’t remember if I am 34 or if Matt is 34. By tomorrow I might not remember my name.
