Poor guy has a bad cold.
A coughing fit woke him during the night and he spied his balloons hanging in his doorway - and he squealed! - thankfully he was tired and sad enough that he quickly forgot and began to drift to sleep with me on the queen bed that is in his room. With a little nest of pillows to prop him up he fell fast asleep and his coughing stopped. So, we left him, with the monitor very close, of course. AND, I hardly slept as I listened to him all night. BUT, he slept all night and woke happy!
We were at his side quickly when he woke - he was feeling pretty pleased with himself.
He slept late and the girls had already gone to school so it was pretty sweet to let him walk through the birthday door with just mamma and daddy.
He LOVED his birthday door!
Max helped pick out his birthday cupcake.
He was very excited to have it.
I don't know if he knew what it was - but he liked it.
By party time he was SO SO tired.
He slowly tasted the icing with one finger, and then another.
After a little icing had hit his system we got a little squeal
- and I think that was the last bit of his energy.
Here is Max snuggling with my friend Megan - she was my Doula during Max's birth - after a long and exhausting labor for both of us - I ended up in surgery and Megan couldn't be there.
It was actually a day or two before she was even able to see Max. Anyway, besides family it was important to me for Megan to be there to celebrate Max's first birthday.
Max responded beautifully to his popcorn popper.
He was too tired to make much effort to open presents
Just for fun - we are going to try it again after school today.
We love you baby Max.
You are the sweetest sweetest guy ever.

Seriously cannot believe he's one! Looks like it was a good day! Miss you guys!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you post these Becca! You relate it in a way I can almost pretend I am there. He may not be smiling much outwardly but I can tell he was so facinated and happy.
ReplyDeleteHappy 1st Birthday Max!
This looks like a great birthday!! Happy birthday to Max.
