After an evening outside to acclimate, we opened their cage in early morning. They were already restless and enjoying sunning their wings. 1 flew out immediately. 3 we were able to remove while they sat quietly on their flowers. Another came to the edge and checked things out before flying off.
Right at 2 weeks start to finish - got the caterpillars in the mail -turned into their chrysalides with in a couple days - and before we knew it they were hatching. July 29th - Mom's Bday - we looked at them in the morning and no change - and hour later we had 3 butterflies, then 4, then 5. They were good on the road - we took them to Manhattan with us this weekend. Not a bad pet experience!
